Zcash’s 7.93 percentage-point move in the last ~17 hours is part of a larger breakout driven by a new US Zcash ETF, a broad risk-on crypto rally, very high mining profitability, and momentum trading.
New Zcash ETF Driving Structural Demand
The launch of Grayscale’s Zcash ETF on NYSE Arca on 25 August 2026 has pulled fresh institutional and brokerage capital into ZEC. This fund is the first US exchange-traded product giving spot exposure to Zcash for regular brokerage accounts, without using a crypto exchange or self-custody wallets. This is highlighted as a key milestone in bringing ZEC into “regulated investment markets.” While centralized exchanges have delisted or restricted Monero and other privacy coins, ZEC’s ETF goes in the opposite direction by expanding regulated access to ZEC for both retail and institutions, even though the ETF itself uses transparent custody for compliance reasons.¹ Subsequent coverage of the “privacy coin battle” repeatedly cites this ETF launch as the main reason ZEC has become the sector’s dominant asset by market cap and accessibility, emphasizing that the ETF can attract Wall Street liquidity and that ZEC has a multi-billion-dollar lead over Monero.²
