BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF drew more than $1 billion across four trading sessions even as Bitcoin (BTC) retreated from above $87,000.
Key Points:
- BlackRock’s IBIT recorded about $1.02 billion in net inflows from Sept. 17 through Sept. 22.
- U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs collectively attracted $2.31 billion during the four sessions, with IBIT accounting for about 44%.
- Bitcoin later fell toward $84,000 after reaching an intraday high near $87,283.
Bitcoin ETF Flows
Farside Investors data showed that IBIT received $183.7 million on Sept. 17 and another $108.4 million the following session, before inflows accelerated to $381.4 million on Sept. 21 and $350.3 million on Sept. 22.
Those four sessions brought the fund’s combined net inflows to about $1.02 billion, while U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted roughly $2.31 billion overall, leaving IBIT with about 44% of the total.
The figures represent investor money entering the ETF rather than BlackRock directly spending $1 billion to purchase Bitcoin. The structure gives investors regulated exposure to Bitcoin through a brokerage account without requiring them to hold or manage the cryptocurrency themselves.
Bitcoin Price Pullback
The inflows continued during a strong Bitcoin rally, but the cryptocurrency later surrendered part of its advance, falling to about $84,175 after reaching an intraday high near $87,283. That represented a roughly 2.35% daily decline at the time of the original market snapshot.
