Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs witnessed an abrupt turnaround in the week of October 5–9, 2026. The products shed a combined $1.22 billion as rising Treasury yields and renewed inflation concerns weighed down on cryptocurrency markets. U.S. spot Bitcoin funds recorded $678.9 million in net outflows as the cryptocurrency assets lost ground.

Ethereum funds posted an additional $542.2 million in sales, according to Farside Investors.

How Did Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs Lose $1.22 Billion?

The products posted net outflows in the second half of the week. Bitcoin and Ether ETFs lost $645.8 million combined on October 7, followed by another $316.6 million on October 8.

The week’s daily outflows, per Farside Investors, tell the story of waning confidence:

DateBitcoin ETF flowsEthereum ETF flows
October 5-$89.8M-$50.8M
October 6+$118.8M-$201.9M
October 7-$484.9M-$160.9M
October 8-$244.1M-$72.5M
October 9+$21.1M-$56.1M
Weekly total-$678.9M-$542.2M

The combined $1.22 billion outflow followed a week in which the two ETF categories attracted approximately $103 million net. The sequential strength in inflows during the week, however, masked an uneven trend between the two asset classes. While Bitcoin funds eked out a profit of $241.1 million in the prior five days, Ethereum products had already started the slide.
