Bitcoin just had its best week of 2026 and it barely dented the year's real story. Over five sessions in the middle of August the price ran from $62,631 to $79,500, roughly 27%, and it still sits more than 20% below a number it printed on a Wednesday morning in January and has not seriously threatened since. That gap is what Kalshi's 2026 ceiling market is really asking about, and it is why the board repriced violently last week while its top half barely moved at all.

We fetched the live ladder, hid every price from an eight-model AI panel, and asked each model to score the whole thing from scratch. Then we showed each model what the other seven said and let them revise. The panel came back a long way above the market through the $130,000 rung and below it from $140,000 up, which is a more interesting disagreement than a simple bull-versus-bear split.

The Quick Answer

As of August 23, 2026, Bitcoin trades near $76,000 after a 27% run off its August low. Its highest print of the year is still $97,964, set on January 14, and in the seven months since, its best month topped out at $82,814. Every contract on this board pays out only if Bitcoin sets a new 2026 high before December 31. The market prices a return above $100,000 in the low-to-mid twenties in cents; our eight-model panel scores it nearly twice that. Above $140,000 the two sides swap places and the panel goes lower than the market. The full rung-by-rung board, every seat's number, and the exact level where the panel and the money cross are below.
