The answer may depend less on another round-number target and more on what is happening beneath the price. In Glassnode’s latest BTC Market Pulse, analyst Frederik Theissen found that spot buyers helped drive Bitcoin back toward $86,000, while futures leverage and options positioning were building at the same time.
That combination leaves Bitcoin with enough underlying demand to challenge its 2026 starting area near $87,500, but also a market that is becoming increasingly sensitive to leverage.
Spot Buyers Returned, but Leverage Is Rising Too
Glassnode said exchange taker flow flipped from net selling to net buying during the latest advance, while spot volume increased and momentum improved without becoming excessively stretched.
That is an important change from the weaker setup earlier in September, when Bitcoin repeatedly struggled to hold the $80,000 area. A recent Coinpaper price outlook placed the $85,000-$87,300 region as the main barrier for a larger breakout.
The complication is leverage.
