"I am confident that the government's financial condition is at an inflection point," Ray Dalio wrote in a LinkedIn post published August 21, telling investors to go underweight bonds, hold 10% to 15% of a portfolio in gold and add "a bit" of bitcoin. "If this is not dealt with now, the debts will build up to levels where they can't be managed without great trauma."

"My guess, which I suppose will be a bad one, is that it will come in three years, give or take two, if the course we're on is not changed," the Bridgewater Associates founder wrote. Debt service would hit $11 trillion, about 200% of annual revenue, if the government were a business, and federal spending runs about 40% above what Washington collects.

"Bitcoin nears $80K; Gold and Silver +15% from recent lows. Debasement trade is BACK," Bloomberg TV's David Ingles posted on X on August 23, as bitcoin held near $78,200, almost 24% above its August 19 low of $64,166, with gold at $4,658 an ounce and a BlackRock buying spree already carrying it toward $80,000.

"For the first time this year there is now a risk my end year forecast (of USD100k) is too low," wrote Geoff Kendrick, Standard Chartered's global head of digital assets research, who cut that call from $150,000 in February and now sees a retest of bitcoin's $126,000 record.
