Bitcoin Suisse is cutting up to half its Swiss workforce as it moves key functions overseas. The Zug-based crypto financial services firm plans to eliminate up to 60 of its approximately 120 Swiss positions. The roles being cut are primarily in back-office and administrative functions.

CEO and co-founder Andrej Majcen

confirmed

the plans to Swiss financial publication Finews, which first reported the restructuring on Sept. 11. He said the decision was driven by cost and was part of a wider international growth strategy. He was clear that it was not a reaction to difficult conditions in the crypto market.

"In Bratislava and Vietnam, we can provide these services at significantly lower cost," Majcen told Finews. The company already operates a hub in Bratislava. It plans to establish a new location in Vietnam within the next few years.
