BlackRock's iShares Staked Ethereum Trust collected $254 million in assets under management within its first week of trading. The fund launched on Nasdaq on March 12 under the ticker ETHB. Seed capital of more than $100 million came from BlackRock Financial Management, an affiliate of iShares.
Investors added $146 million on top of that seed amount in the days following the launch. The fund stakes between 70% and 95% of its
holdings. It then passes 82% of the resulting staking rewards to investors through monthly payments.
The remaining 18% is shared among the trust, custodians, and staking service providers. ETHB's validators include Figment, Galaxy Blockchain Infrastructure, and Attestant. The fund charges a sponsor fee of 0.25%, reduced to 0.12% for the first year on up to $2.5 billion in assets.
ETHB entered a market where two competing products already existed. Grayscale and REX-Osprey had each launched their own staked Ethereum funds ahead of BlackRock. However, ETHB was built as a staking product from the start, unlike those earlier offerings.
