Caroline Pham a déclaré que la Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) et la Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) ont déjà l'autorité nécessaire pour établir des règles plus claires pour les actifs numériques, offrant ainsi une voie réglementaire alors que le Congrès débat du rôle de la CFTC.

Lors de la Korea Blockchain Week, Pham a déclaré que l'examen des mandats existants des agences pourrait permettre d'identifier la base juridique de la réglementation des actifs numériques.

Ces commentaires interviennent alors que les postes de direction vacants dans les deux agences font toujours partie du débat plus large sur la politique crypto aux États-Unis. La CFTC est dirigée par le président Michael Selig en tant que commissaire unique depuis le départ de Pham en décembre 2025.

Le Congrès envisage une législation qui donnerait à la CFTC un rôle plus important dans la surveillance des actifs numériques. Le Digital Asset Clarity Act a échoué au Sénat.
