Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted two words on X on Aug. 30: "We're Back."
The
landed on a Sunday, consistent with a pattern Saylor has repeated over several years. He has regularly dropped short, cryptic weekend posts ahead of formal Bitcoin (
) treasury purchase announcements on Monday mornings, and the market has learned to read them as forward signals.
Strategy's last confirmed BTC purchase was on June 22. In the months that followed, the company paused accumulation and pivoted to balance sheet stabilization. It sold a portion of its BTC holdings to boost liquidity, then halted those sales. Large common stock offerings followed, which built a $5.1 billion US dollar reserve. Those same offerings generated a separate $1.59 billion cash pool. During the same period, the company used available capital to buy back its preferred stock, STRC, which had been trading below its $100 par value.
Strategy Built a $5.1B Reserve During Its Bitcoin Pause
STRC climbed as high as $98 on Aug. 29. Strategy is expected to continue buybacks to return it to $100. With nearly four years of preferred dividend coverage now secured, the math behind future capital deployment has shifted. New capital raised is more likely to go toward BTC purchases than toward adding to dollar reserves, making the "We're Back" post credible to analysts who track the company's capital allocation patterns.
