"Everyone takes a hit if anything happens to Bitcoin," Ali wrote in a Friday post on X. Ali was responding to Tushar Jain, managing partner at Multicoin Capital, who argued that networks such as Zcash, Solana and Hyperliquid (CRYPTO: $HYPE) could respond more quickly than Bitcoin if artificial intelligence uncovered a cryptographic vulnerability.
Bitcoin's decentralized development process could make coordinating an emergency upgrade more difficult, Jain said.
But Ali argued that faster upgrade cycles would offer little protection from the broader consequences of a serious Bitcoin security incident. "Any security issue with BTC affects everyone," he wrote, describing the crypto industry as being "in the same boat."
Bitcoin's central role in the market means a major security failure could undermine confidence well beyond the network itself. Even blockchains with different technical designs could face selling pressure if investors began questioning the security of crypto assets more broadly.
