President Donald Trump is planning to attend a White House meeting next week with chief executives from some of the biggest names in crypto, prediction markets and artificial intelligence, people briefed on the planning told CoinDesk.

The Wednesday gathering is a prelude to the first formal session of a new Innovation Advisory Committee at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which will hold its inaugural meeting the following day. For anyone who has watched the crypto industry’s long, messy fight for regulatory clarity, this is a notable moment: the president sitting down with the same executives whose companies have spent years pushing Washington for clearer rules.

Who’s in the room

The committee’s membership reads like a roster of the industry’s heaviest hitters. CEOs from Coinbase, Ripple, Gemini, Robinhood, Polymarket and Kalshi are all members. They will be joined by leaders from more traditional financial firms, including CME Group, Nasdaq, Intercontinental Exchange and the DTCC.

CFTC Chairman Mike Selig is expected to attend the Wednesday session, which is planned for the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next door to the White House. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick may also be there.

White House spokespeople did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A regulatory agenda takes shape at the CFTC

The Thursday afternoon meeting at the CFTC will dig into the group’s policy agenda. The opening session is titled “Crypto’s Regulatory Evolution: From Uncertainty to Clarity.” One suggested topic is described as “the remaining challenges to a durable federal market structure.”

That language points to the central tension the industry has faced for years: the absence of a single, settled federal framework governing digital assets. Different agencies have claimed overlapping jurisdiction, and companies have operated under a patchwork of enforcement actions rather than clear statute.

The ethics question looming over the Senate

The meetings come as the White House and Trump remain entangled in a contentious debate over advancing the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act through final votes in the U.S. Senate. Further action on the bill may depend on whether the president is willing to accept tighter ethics restrictions on his personal involvement in the crypto industry.

Trump’s own financial ties to crypto ventures have drawn scrutiny from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, and the ethics provisions have become a sticking point in negotiations over the legislation.

The committee’s first meetings will signal how aggressively the administration intends to push its innovation agenda and whether the policy dialogue translates into concrete regulatory movement. The CFTC session is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
