MUMBAI: Ramadhir Singh is back, and this time he has some trading advice to share. WazirX has tapped the cult world of Gangs of Wasseypur for its latest OTT campaign, bringing back Tigmanshu Dhulia as the formidable Ramadhir Singh, recast as ‘Bauji’, a voice of hard-earned trading wisdom.

The 79-second film recreates the visual style and father-son dynamic associated with the two-part crime drama to address a very current problem in crypto trading: users relying on unverified recommendations shared through online tip groups.

At the heart of the campaign is a simple message: traders taking a position are ultimately responsible for the risks, so they need to do their own research rather than blindly follow someone else’s call.

Set against spaces reminiscent of the film’s Wasseypur universe, the ad follows Bauji as he deals with his seemingly inept son, who believes people offering trading tips online must know how to make money.

Bauji quickly tears that logic apart, pointing out that tip providers can make money regardless of whether the person following their advice makes a profit or takes a loss.

The campaign uses humour to tackle a serious issue in online trading communities, where confident predictions, promised returns and urgent buy-or-sell calls can push users towards highly leveraged positions without fully understanding the risks.
