Cashtags are notations combining a dollar sign ($) with a ticker symbol, a mechanism that aggregates price information and related posts for stocks and crypto assets on X. X introduced this feature for iPhone users in the U.S. and Canada in April 2026, initially focusing on price charts and related post viewing. In Canada, the company had already rolled out a trading-service handoff feature in partnership with Wealthsimple.
Under the new program, tapping a supported cashtag displays the asset's price chart and related posts. When a user presses the "Trade" button, a list of partners appears; selecting one redirects the user to that firm's app or website. The trades themselves are not executed on X but are completed on the partner company's platform. Users log in or create a new account before placing actual buy or sell orders.
