YouTube removes Bitcoin Treasuries channel ahead of conference, cites harmful content

YouTube has pulled the plug on the Bitcoin Treasuries channel, run by host Tim Kotzman under the @BitcoinTreasuryCompanies handle, labeling its content as "harmful or dangerous." The channel, which focused on Bitcoin education, corporate treasury strategies, and wallet tutorials, received no prior strikes or warnings before the termination.

Kotzman has filed an appeal with YouTube, but the timing is particularly awkward. Bitcoin Treasuries Media, the organization behind the channel, has conferences in the pipeline focused on corporate Bitcoin strategies, and one of its primary outreach vehicles just vanished overnight.

Several prominent Bitcoin channels have faced similar terminations during what appears to be a broader crackdown on crypto content. Bitcoin.com's channel, which had been active since 2015 and accumulated over 100,000 subscribers, was among those hit. BTC Sessions and Bitcoin Magazine have also experienced removals, though some were reversed after public backlash forced YouTube's hand.

The collective damage across affected creators has been substantial, with educational Bitcoin channels losing millions of subscribers during the sweep. For creators who built audiences over years, the operational fallout goes beyond vanity metrics. Video embeds across external sites break instantly, archived educational resources disappear, and revenue streams evaporate.
