Sixty percent of wealth managers polled at a recent Bitwise presentation said they plan to allocate to crypto within the next year. The more striking number is where they're starting: 67% said they currently have no crypto allocation at all.

Bitwise Head of Research Ryan Rasmussen shared the results after presenting to roughly 400 wealth managers alongside CIO Matt Hougan. The same audience was bullish on the asset class, with 60% expecting crypto prices to finish the year higher.

That makes this less a story about existing crypto investors adding another percentage point than about a potentially large group moving from zero. The poll isn't representative of the wealth management industry, and an audience attending a Bitwise presentation is hardly a neutral sample, but the gap between current ownership and stated intentions is still difficult to ignore.

Broader data suggest the direction isn't confined to one room. Bitwise and VettaFi's 2026 benchmark survey found that 32% of respondents allocated to crypto in client accounts during 2025, up from 22% the previous year. Meanwhile, the share able to purchase crypto in client accounts rose to 42% from 35%.

The constraint has increasingly shifted from whether clients and investment professionals are interested in digital assets to whether firms have approved ways to own them. Exchange-traded products have helped narrow that gap by putting crypto exposure inside familiar brokerage, custody and compliance infrastructure.
