Bitcoin and ethereum prices today, Friday, September 25, 2026: Is bitcoin finally on a path to $250,000?

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) opened at $84,378.12 on Friday, September 25, 2026, flat from Thursday's open. As of 7:14 a.m. ET this morning, the price of bitcoin lifted to $85,199.84.

Ethereum (ETH-USD) opened at $2,687.33 on Friday, September 25, 2026, up 0.1% from Thursday's opening price. The price of ethereum moved up to $2,738.36 as of 7:14 a.m. ET.

Bitcoin and ethereum opened this morning with weekly gains near 10%. While both bitcoin and ethereum prices are down from 8-month highs on Wednesday, prices for both cryptocurrencies are trending higher this morning in early trading.

On Wednesday, bitcoin hit the high mark of $87,265.49, and ethereum notched $2,787.96.

"The BTC breakout is credible," Fundstrat head of digital assets Sean Farrell told Yahoo Finance on Monday. "I think the crypto winter is over, although that does not necessarily mean the path higher will be linear."

One hedge fund manager is taking his predictions a step further, saying bitcoin is on a new path to $250,000:

Hedge fund manager Mark Yusko seen it all in the crypto ups and downs. As an early Bitcoin investor, that's enabled him to avoid big drawdowns — just as he did last year.

But the Morgan Creek Capital Management founder now says Bitcoin has undergone a significant change beneath the surface in recent weeks. After months in which rallies were met with selling, Yusko believes Bitcoin is on a new path to a new all-time high of $250,000.
