Bitcoin has appreciated nearly 26% since 19 August, when the US Treasury Department announced it would accelerate and even double the volume of its bond repurchase programs to “support liquidity” in long-term bonds, specifically those with maturities of 10 to 20 years and 20 to 30 years.
This announcement came after a rise in bond yields on 24 August, when the yield on 30-year bonds hit 5.31%, its highest level since 2007, and the yield on 10-year bonds surpassed 4.7%.
Before the US Treasury announcement, the cryptocurrency was trading at around $64,750 (€55,450).
Despite the significant recovery, the digital currency continues to register a 7.3% appreciation since the beginning of the year.
