Speaking to attendees, Zhao emphasized that the industry’s fundamentals remain strong, even as the market continues to evolve amid shifting regulatory landscapes.

RWA Tokenization: A Bright Spot

Zhao highlighted the growing potential of real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, describing it as a key area of opportunity. He argued that putting assets on-chain can eliminate traditional time and cross-border barriers, enabling global investors to connect more easily. This approach, he noted, could also improve liquidity for small and mid-sized assets that typically struggle to attract capital through conventional channels. The comments reflect a broader industry trend toward bridging traditional finance with blockchain technology, a sector that has seen increased institutional interest in recent years.

Global Regulatory Landscape: A Mixed Picture

On regulation, Zhao offered a comparative view of different jurisdictions. He praised the United Arab Emirates as the most advanced in terms of crypto regulation, while noting that the United States is making rapid progress on stablecoin and exchange rules. Japan was described as having taken a friendly stance, and Hong Kong is growing quickly as a hub. Singapore, however, was characterized as relatively conservative. These observations come at a time when governments worldwide are grappling with how to balance innovation and investor protection.
