The move will give investors more access to U.S. stocks outside traditional market hours and could reduce one of crypto’s longstanding advantages: the ability to trade continuously around the clock.
What are Nasdaq’s New Trading Hours?
Nasdaq is adding the overnight session to provide near-continuous access to U.S. equities and meet growing demand from investors outside U.S. time zones. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved Nasdaq’s rule change on April 10, 2026.
Under Nasdaq’s schedule, trading will run from 9 p.m. ET Sunday until 8 p.m. ET Friday, with a one-hour industry-wide pause each weekday evening. The existing 4 a.m.–8 p.m. trading window will remain in place.
