500-Million New Reality for Bitcoin: Ownership Hits 4.5%-6% of Global Population

The global cryptocurrency market has recorded a new reality — the number of holders of the world's first cryptocurrency has officially exceeded half a billion people. According to an updated report by on-chain analyst Willy Woo, Bitcoin ($BTC) owners now account for 4.5% to 6% of the world's total population.

According to the expert's estimates, supported by Glassnode and Chainalysis metrics, the asset's total audience ranges between 370 million and 500 million people. The current pace of coin distribution follows an S-shaped innovation adoption curve typical of the early stages of the internet's development.

However, analysts disagree on whether this growth will translate into a multiple increase in the asset's value in the coming years.

The presented statistics demonstrate an uneven distribution of global digital capital between developed and developing economies:

• India leads in the absolute number of users with 68 million people (4.6% of the country's population).
• The United States ranks second with 50 million people, while maintaining the highest penetration rate among the world's largest economies (14% of the population).
• China remains in third place with 33 million users (2.3% of the population), despite regulatory restrictions.
• Vietnam (17%) and the Philippines (14%) have recorded the highest levels of cryptocurrency penetration relative to their populations.
