Bitcoin Edged Past Nvidia in 10-Year Gains
Mark Harvey, a widely followed Bitcoin investor and analyst, shared a table of major assets and their 10-year returns.
Bitcoin claimed the top spot with a staggering 13,491% return, while Nvidia, a key gauge of AI enthusiasm and the wider U.S. stock market, finished a close second at 13,428%.
Nvidia Has Had the Better Off Bitcoin Lately
It’s worth noting that over a shorter timeframe, Nvidia has clearly outperformed Bitcoin.
Both Nvidia and Bitcoin are risk-laden investments, and traders must navigate their inherent volatility to profit. For that, analysts track the Sharpe Ratio, a measure of risk-adjusted returns.
Bitcoin’s Sharpe Ratio stood at 7 as of this writing, according to TradingView, indicating that investment in the stock was generating positive returns above the risk-free rate. In Nvidia’s case, the ratio was -1.20, suggesting that the expected return was lower than that of a risk-free investment.
Among the remaining “Mag 7” names, Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) delivered gains of 740% and 591%, respectively, in the last 10 years.
