Armstrong noted Bitcoin’s historical cycle pattern, where rallies around halving events have typically been followed by downturns lasting roughly a year.
"We’ve just gone through one of those recently," Armstrong told Scott Melker in an interview on Sep.20 pointing to $60,000.
"My hope is by 2030 we could see a $300,000, $400,000 Bitcoin," he said.
Armstrong’s bullish outlook extends beyond Bitcoin’s price. He said stablecoins, perpetual futures, prediction markets and AI-powered finance continue growing regardless of Bitcoin’s short-term swings.
He also sees AI creating another major use case for blockchain payments.
Coinbase is building infrastructure around its Base blockchain, USDC and the x402 payment protocol.
Armstrong expects the trend to accelerate as AI shifts from answering questions to completing tasks that require spending money.
