Why Grayscale Highlights the AI Segment in the Crypto Market

Zach Pandl, head of research at Grayscale, on October 2 linked the strong performance of this area to the development of the software agent economy. This refers to software that can perform tasks and conduct transactions on behalf of users.

Grayscale considers blockchain infrastructure for AI as a separate segment of about $15 billion. It remains the smallest among six cryptocurrency sectors, but its growth over the month was significantly higher than the market average.

“We believe that over the next five years, one or more major leaders may emerge in the AI sector.”

Grayscale’s logic is based on the idea that public blockchains can complement the development of AI, which is still largely concentrated among a limited number of companies. Possible use cases include payments for agents, digital identification, verifiable records, and private computations that allow sensitive data to be protected during processing.
