Marex has launched an over-the-counter (OTC) rolling spot crypto product for institutional clients.

The cash-settled margin product lets clients take long or short exposure to crypto markets without the custody, settlement and operational requirements of holding cryptocurrencies directly.

Specifically, the launch responds to growing demand for digital asset exposure from institutional clients, including hedge funds, asset managers and digital asset-native firms.

Samuel Leyne, co-head of crypto trading at Marex, said: “The institutional crypto market is at an inflection point, with greater legal and regulatory certainty driving broader adoption.

“By combining this with Marex’s established institutional credit, margin and trading infrastructure through Neon, we’re bringing digital-asset exposure into a framework our clients already know and use.”

Alongside the product, Marex has also launched neon crypto, a digital assets app built into its existing neon platform.

Why this matters

The launch expands the ways institutional clients can gain crypto exposure without directly holding or settling digital assets, potentially lowering operational barriers for traditional firms. It signals continued integration of crypto trading into established margin and credit infrastructure as UK regulatory oversight broadens.

Specifically, it offers execution, streaming market depth, real-time margin oversight and portfolio management.

The launch adds to Marex’s existing digital assets business, which supports institutional and crypto-native clients across liquidity, execution, clearing, structuring, financing and prime brokerage.

The news also comes a week after the FCA opened its authorisation gateway for UK crypto-asset firms which brings crypto firms operating in the UK under full FCA regulation for the first time.
