San Diego proposes placing warning signs at crypto ATMs

San Diego City Council President Joe LaCava introduced a motion to place warning signs at cryptocurrency ATMs to alert potential victims of scams. The ordinance aims to interrupt seniors and other victims from depositing cash into the machines at the behest of scammers, according to a report by CBS 8.

"This warning sign will encourage people to stop, assess the situation, and reach out to appropriate resources prior to becoming a victim of a cryptocurrency scam," LaCava said in a statement.

The Rules Committee will review the proposal before bringing it to a full vote to the city council. Overall, this rule would be much less restrictive than many other counties and states, which have banned crypto ATMs.
