VolMEX Seeks Guidance on Crypto-Based Options from SEC

VolMEX Labs Corporation is seeking regulatory clarity from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on options products linked to cryptocurrencies.

According to the SEC memorandum, SEC Crypto Task Force staff met with VolMEX and its legal advisers, Clifford Chance US LLP, on October 6, 2026, to discuss how crypto options could fit within existing U.S. rules. The meeting came after VolMEX sent a request to the SEC on September 25. 

The company wanted to discuss three main issues: how options products already available in the U.S. are regulated, how options products linked to cryptocurrencies could be structured, and what could be done to make the rules clearer for these products.

VolMEX also wants the SEC to consider a proposed options product. The company said it wanted to explain the product’s terms and features, its planned launch timeline, and the market goals behind it. It also wanted to discuss whether the product needs more regulatory analysis, guidance, or some form of relief before moving ahead.
