What the disclosure actually shows

Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump's special envoy and a central player in negotiations about the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, booked $107 million in 2025 via a parent entity that held his portion of the crypto venture he launched with Trump. His disclosure put his total assets at no less than $408.7 million, with amounts reported in wide ranges rather than exact numbers. Ethics officials have not yet cleared the filing, which was among dozens the White House made public this month. Witkoff received a 75-day extension to submit his report.

Because the disclosure omits the value and income of the holding company's underlying assets, it does not specify how much, if any, of the $107 million was from World Liberty Financial LLC. In his prior filing, covering the period before he entered government, the same holding company produced $34 million in 2024. That entity also holds resorts, golf and hotel management operations, and residential real estate.

World Liberty, created before Trump's second election, is primarily recognized for its USD1 stablecoin. It also operates a lending-and-borrowing platform and issued another token, WLFI, a large portion of which went to early investors who remain restricted from selling. The company tried to float a token tied to a planned Trump hotel in the Maldives, but that project is currently on hold.
