Crypto.com just cleared one of the most significant regulatory hurdles in its history. The SEC has confirmed receipt of the company's Form 1-N registration, effectively greenlighting its path to offer single-stock futures to American traders through a crypto-native platform.
CEO Kris Marszalek announced the milestone on September 17, framing it as a step toward bringing single-stock perpetual contracts to the US market in coordination with both the SEC and the CFTC.
The entity behind the registration is the North American Derivatives Exchange, better known as Nadex, which operates under the Crypto.com Derivatives North America and OG.com brands. The Form 1-N is the notice registration that exchanges must file with the SEC to list security futures products. It's not a full application process so much as a formal notification, but the SEC's acknowledgment means the exchange has met the statutory requirements to proceed.
Single-stock futures are contracts that let traders bet on the future price of individual equities without actually owning the shares. Unlike standard futures that expire on a set date, perpetual contracts roll indefinitely. The company is working with both the SEC and CFTC simultaneously because single-stock futures sit at the intersection of securities law and commodities law, jointly regulated by both agencies.
