David Chaum, the cryptographer whose work on anonymous communication helped lay the groundwork for the cypherpunk movement, came to Amsterdam in the 1980s to work at CWI, the Dutch national research institute for mathematics and computer science. The drawing makes a complex financial system legible, exposing the mechanisms through which money is created, distributed, and concentrated.
