Bitcoin Market Shift

Bitcoin climbed more than 6% to trade near $86,600 on Sept. 21, extending a monthly advance that had reached about 12%. The move followed a volatile September in which investors confronted higher interest rates, oil concerns and questions around artificial intelligence safety without a lasting breakdown in equities.

The S&P 500 had gone 37 days without a 1% decline. That steadiness has helped support broader risk appetite, even after the Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan both increased interest rates during the month.

Bitcoin has not always followed stocks.

Amoroso Risk View

Anastasia Amoroso, chief investment strategist at Partners Group, told CNBC’s Closing Bell that oil, AI safety and higher-rate concerns had eased, leaving more room for equities to advance into year-end. Ryan Detrick, chief market strategist at Carson Group, said the Federal Reserve’s tone was more dovish than expected, helping explain why markets absorbed the rate increase without deeper selling.
