Gold and Bitcoin prices are rallying at the same time after each asset tanked big time from their respective highs. My questions are this. One, why has this happened? And two, which asset is the one to own for the rest of the summer? Jim, going to you.

00:15 Jim

Uh, why it's happening is because we're not dealing with inflation and we're talking about being stimulative and those are the assets that would benefit from it. Uh, which one to own for the rest of the summer since you've given me that time frame is probably Bitcoin because it's got a higher beta version than gold.

00:33 Speaker A

Are you are you in that camp, Jim, where Bitcoin and gold are are similar assets or is that absurd?

00:41 Jim

No, I think they are similar assets. There's they they've taken on a bit of a safe haven quality to them because Bitcoin quite frankly has not expanded out into the decentralized finance area or other use cases like say Ethereum has or Solana has. So its use case is very limited and its use case is a store of value like gold is.

01:00 Speaker A

Uh art, let me guess, you're going to go with gold.

I I can't figure out how you figured that out. I I Jim, I think made the right points to you saying that you know, the end of the summer is really two weeks away. But if you're if you're talking about the end of this year, I would certainly say gold. I can tell you what the drivers are because the dollar's come off the boil. It peaked in June and July and that's come down significantly. That certainly helps uh precious metals. I think the demand for precious metals from central banks is only increasing on a year-over-year basis and that likely continues. So that helps that argument. And as a diversifier in portfolios for a certain generation that Jim and I are in, I would say gold is probably more popular than crypto and so I think the demand in an aging population for a diversifier that is gold versus Bitcoin probably makes me feel more confident.
