Bitcoin Targets Historical 77% Q4 Rally: Key Breakout Level to Watch

Bitcoin (BTC) has consolidated between $83,000 and $85,000 over the past 24 hours, after hitting a weekly high of $87,000. The flagship cryptocurrency now has to maintain above a critical level to seal a bullish case for Q4 2026.

Bitcoin price prediction: crucial weekly close to watch for

For Bitcoin to truly establish strong upward momentum, it needs to attain a weekly close above the May resistance peak of $82,293. While BTC hit a high of $87,000, it now battles resistance at the May high. Trading above this level would pave the way for “Uptober,” which is the crypto community’s term for historic Q4 explosive crypto rallies.

Notably, Q4 returns typically average 77%-85%, with a median of 47%, making it the best-performing quarter of the year. Historically, Bitcoin has closed in the green 66% of the time in Q4, which is 8 out of 12 years.

The monthly seasonal pattern usually begins with a setup formation in September, followed by rebounds of up to 29% in October. Afterward, November marks the peak, with returns over 36%, while December marks a cool-off period with returns averaging 7%. 

The risk factor

It is important to note that the above averages are heavily skewed due to high returns in Q4 2017 (+215%) and Q4 2020 (+168%). Downturns such as those in Q4 2018 and Q4 2025 caused BTC to plunge 42% and 23%, respectively.
