CLARITY Act Breakthrough?
The meeting was scheduled for Sunday evening, with the vote set for Tuesday afternoon, Politico reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
The Democratic Party didn’t immediately return Benzinga’s request for comment.
Caucus meetings typically precede major floor votes, but the result of Tuesday’s vote is still up in the air.
The key sticking point is an ethics requirement aimed at President Donald Trump’s family’s cryptocurrency dealings.
However, Senate Democrats said in a joint statement that the text “falls short” on ethics, consumer protection, illicit finance and conflicts of interest.
Polymarket Odds Spike
Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) revealed an updated draft on Thursday, incorporating “over 100 changes requested by Democrats.” Reports suggested the Dems weren’t happy with the latest version either.
The bill still needs 60 votes, meaning all voting Republicans plus at least seven Democrats. Polymarket currently places the CLARITY Act’s passage odds at 30%, up from 17% a week ago.
