The system will connect IonQ's full-stack quantum system directly to NVIDIA's AI infrastructure, linking the Superion 256 with an NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 system through the company's NVQLink technology.
The latest gains follow a volatile period for IonQ, with the shares having fallen sharply from their June highs before recovering alongside renewed interest in quantum-computing technology.
The workloads will be managed through NVIDIA's CUDA-Q platform, with the companies planning research into hybrid software development, large-scale system prototyping and quantum-GPU co-design.
The research will also examine potential applications including portfolio optimization, risk modelling, materials science and computational chemistry for drug discovery, linking quantum processors with accelerated computing infrastructure.
The installation at NVIDIA's research center is also scheduled for 2027, making the announcement an important step in IonQ's plans to deploy its quantum systems outside its own facilities.
