Post-quantum preparedness is a hot topic with infrastructure providers. Many are scurrying to meet recent mandates designed to prevent attacks once quantum computing advances to the point when current encryption become irrelevant.

To get ready, Lattice Semiconductor announced Wednesday the Lattice Mach-N2 family of FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) for system control and security. It combines integrated flash, a root of trust and SNSA 2.0 compliant Post-Quantum Cryptography.  The company also announced an FPGA natural language development tool called Lattice Prompt to make design processes more efficient.

“Demands on system control and security are accelerating as post-quantum mandates take hold,” said Esam Elashmawi, chief strategy and marketing officer at Lattice. “Customers building long-lifecycle infrastructure seek solutions to help them design with today and tomorrow’s security needs in mind.”

The Mach-N2 offers double the logic density of prior controls and is CNSA 2.0-compliant, with best in class cryptography, including AES-256-GCM.

In 2024, Lattice announced the Certus-N2 in its Nexus 2 family, offering a general purpose FPGA with low power demands.  Then, the Mach-N2 was announced Wednesday for non-volatile secure control. Soon, the company plans to introduce a CrossLink-N2 FPGA for video connectivity.
