New York Grandmother Found Dead After Family Receives Mysterious Bitcoin Texts

A 63-year-old New York woman who disappeared during a trip to Las Vegas was found dead near the city’s airport nearly two weeks after going missing and after her family began receiving unsettling messages from her phone requesting money and bitcoin.

Alisa Goods was found early Thursday in a drainage ditch near Wayne Newton Boulevard and the Terminal 1 parking garage at Harry Reid International Airport, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said Friday, according to media reports. The Clark County coroner had not released Goods’ cause or manner of death as of Friday evening.

Goods’ daughter, Kristen Goods,

her mother’s death in a statement posted on a GoFundMe page established to help the family with funeral, burial, transportation, and travel expenses.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news that our beloved mother, Alisa Goods, has been found and has passed away,” the family said in the statement.

Officers responded shortly before 2 a.m. on Thursday after someone reported finding a woman in the drainage area. Police later identified her as Goods.

Airport surveillance footage from Aug. 8 showed Goods fall down an embankment, get back up, and then collapse, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told KTNV. Police said she did not move again and could not be seen from the street.
