Reuters araştırmasına göre Tether’ın Uruguay'da bir bitcoin madenciliği kalesi kurma planı, ülkenin devlete ait elektrik kurumuyla yaşanan elektrik tedariği konusundaki anlaşmazlığın ardından suya düştü.

Stabil kripto para ihraççısı, 2023'ten itibaren Uruguay'ın kırsal kesimindeki iki madencilik tesisine yaklaşık $120 million yatırım yaparak ülkeyi daha geniş Güney Amerika madencilik operasyonları için bir başlangıç noktası olarak gördü.

Enerji anlaşmazlığı projeyi rayından çıkardı

Temel sorun, devlet kurumu UTE ile Tether’ın yerel kuruluşu Microfin'in ne kadar güç çekme hakkına sahip olduğu konusundaki sözleşme anlaşmazlığıydı.

Tether, sözleşmenin daha sonra artırılabilecek bir minimum tedarik belirlediğine inanırken, UTE bunu kesin bir sınır olarak değerlendirdi.

Eski bir Tether taşeronu Reuters'a yaptığı açıklamada, madencilik talebi arttıkça tesislerin günlerce yeterli elektrikten mahrum kaldığını söyledi.

Mart 2025'te göreve gelen yeni sol eğilimli hükümetin UTE'ye yeniden müzakere konusunda daha sert bir tavır takınan yeni direktörler atamasının ardından anlaşmazlık kötüleşti.

Microfin, Mayıs 2025'te elektrik faturalarını ödemeyi durdurdu ve UTE'ye bir sonraki ay sözleşmelerini feshedeceğini bildirdi.
