Trump Media & Technology Group has withdrawn from several cryptocurrency-related initiatives involving Crypto.com, ending plans that had formed a major part of its digital asset strategy over the past year.
The company, which operates the Truth Social platform, confirmed that it will no longer proceed with a proposed publicly traded company focused on accumulating Crypto.com’s Cronos token (CRO). The decision also affects other agreements between the two firms, including exchange-traded fund (ETF) arrangements and plans connected to prediction markets.
The move represents a change in direction after a period in which Trump Media expanded its presence in digital assets. The company and its partners said the decision followed a review of market conditions and business priorities.
Agreements Ended Following Market Review
Trump Media, Crypto.com and special purpose acquisition company Yorkville Acquisition mutually agreed to terminate the planned Trump Media Group CRO Strategy. The initiative had been announced during a period when publicly traded digital asset treasury companies were attracting significant attention from investors.
Under the proposal, the company would have licensed the Trump Media brand for a business built around the Cronos blockchain ecosystem. The venture was expected to accumulate large amounts of CRO while generating additional returns through staking activities. When first unveiled, partners described it as a future market leader among publicly traded CRO treasury companies.
According to Bloomberg, the companies said they ended the arrangement due to “prevailing market conditions” and “shifting business and stakeholder priorities.”
Crypto.com Chief Executive Officer Kris Marszalek also commented on the decision, stating: “After analysing these proposed ETFs and DAT from every angle, we’ve reached the same conclusion: moving forward under current market conditions doesn’t make sense. We will continue to pursue other ETF opportunities.”
According to previous disclosures, Trump Media had acquired $105 million worth of CRO in September 2025 as part of a wider partnership with Crypto.com. That broader collaboration included plans to incorporate token-based rewards into company products.
Market reaction followed the announcement. CRO declined after the news, with reports indicating the token fell by as much as 5%. The asset was trading around $0.05 and carried a market capitalization of approximately $2.4 billion.
Prediction Market Strategy Shifts Direction
The companies have also abandoned plans to integrate Crypto.com-powered prediction markets directly into Truth Social.
Earlier plans had called for the launch of Truth Predict, a prediction market product that would operate within the social media platform. Instead of building and operating such services itself, Trump Media now intends to pursue a marketing-focused arrangement that promotes Crypto.com’s prediction market offerings to Truth Social users.
