U.S. spot crypto ETFs recorded a major rebound last week, with Bitcoin and Ethereum investment products attracting roughly $2.6 billion in combined net inflows, marking their strongest weekly performance in about 10 months.

Bitcoin ETFs dominated the recovery, pulling in $1.92 billion between August 17 and August 21. The funds recorded net inflows during all five trading sessions, including a $606 million surge on August 20. Weekly Bitcoin ETF trading volume climbed to $22.15 billion, roughly three times the previous week's level.

Ethereum ETFs also regained momentum, attracting $697.18 million after suffering $391.96 million in combined outflows the week before. Ethereum products recorded their biggest daily inflow since October on August 20, when investors added $220.77 million.

Despite the strong weekly recovery, the longer-term picture remains weaker. Cumulative Bitcoin ETF net inflows have fallen from an October 2025 peak of $62.77 billion to $53.71 billion. Ethereum ETF assets remain about 53% below their August 2025 record. For 2026, Bitcoin products have posted $2.91 billion in net outflows, while Ethereum funds are down $177.93 million.

Rising cryptocurrency prices contributed even more to ETF asset growth than new investor capital. Combined Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF assets increased by approximately $23 billion during the week, compared with only about $2.6 billion in net creations. Excluding flows, underlying holdings gained an estimated 22.9% for Bitcoin and 29.2% for Ethereum. Bitcoin traded near $77,125, while Ethereum was around $2,423.
