Bitcoin is stuck in a tight range near $64,000, but traders are watching for a sharp move as volatility continues to shrink. A break higher could put $70,000-$72,000 back in play, while continued weakness may drag BTC toward $63,800 and possibly $60,000-$61,000.

Bitcoin Volatility Squeeze Puts $70K-$72K Reclaim in Focus

Bitcoin is trading inside a notably tight daily range after months of wider swings, while the Bollinger Bands have narrowed around price. Ted Pillows argues that the compression could precede a larger move, with the $70,000-$72,000 zone serving as the key upside level to reclaim.

Bitcoin was near $64,592 on the chart, above the 20-day Bollinger Band midpoint at roughly $63,775 and just below the upper band near $65,125. The lower band sits around $62,425, leaving BTC confined to a relatively narrow volatility range.

The contracting bands support Ted’s view that volatility has cooled sharply. In technical analysis, Bollinger Band compression shows that recent price swings have become smaller. It does not predict the direction of the next move, but prolonged compression can make a later breakout more important.

For the bullish case, Bitcoin first needs to push through the upper part of its recent consolidation and build momentum above the mid-$60,000s. Ted identifies $70,000-$72,000 as the more important resistance zone. A sustained reclaim of that area would strengthen the case that buyers are regaining control after the sharp decline from the May highs.
