Bitcoin Was Near $75K Days Ago. Now BTC Is Back at $80K: What Changed?

BTC fell below $75,000 earlier this week after the Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act, only to recover toward $80,000 days later. The rebound is particularly striking because the Federal Reserve raised interest rates in between.

One major change is institutional demand. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs returned to positive territory on Sept. 17 with $159.5 million in net inflows, according to TFTC's ETF flow tracker. BlackRock's IBIT alone attracted $183.7 million.

So how did Bitcoin go from another apparent breakdown to testing $80K again?

ETF Selling Suddenly Reversed

The ETF turnaround came quickly.

On Sept. 15, Bitcoin ETFs suffered $450.3 million in net outflows. Another $296 million exited the following session, bringing the two-day withdrawal to roughly $746 million.

Bitcoin nevertheless refused to collapse.

BTC held around $76,000 despite the ETF exodus, suggesting much of the immediate selling pressure was being absorbed.

Then flows reversed.

The $159.5 million inflow on Sept. 17 did not erase the previous withdrawals, but it removed one source of accelerating pressure just as Bitcoin started recovering.

The Bad News Wasn't as Bad as Feared

Bitcoin has also absorbed two major catalysts that initially looked bearish.
