The seventh edition of Chainalysis Inc. Geographies report finds that global on-chain crypto activity remained relatively resilient despite a sharp contraction in total market capitalisation.

The global crypto economy remained relatively resilient during the latest market downturn, according to Chainalysis. Between July 2025 and June 2026, crypto market capitalisation fell by around 50%, while on-chain economic activity declined only 1.6%, from $9.5 trillion to $9.4 trillion.

The report links this resilience to a growing diversity of crypto use cases. Transfers below $100 increased 78.4%, while those between $100 and $1,000 rose 58.6%. Domestic peer-to-peer activity also surged 302.9%, reaching $228.7 billion, while cross-border stablecoin transfers increased 77.5% to $220.3 billion. Stablecoins accounted for 96% of domestic peer-to-peer transfers, reflecting their growing role in payments and other everyday transactions.

Cross-border stablecoin transfers more than doubled during the period covered by the report. Monthly stablecoin value rose from USD 11 billion in January 2025 to USD 24 billion in June 2026, while total stablecoin value increased from USD 124.2 billion to USD 220.3 billion. Chainalysis links this growth to payments averaging about USD 3,000, which are consistent with everyday uses such as paying suppliers, sending money home and moving savings out of currencies perceived as unstable.
