Crypto Thief Known As ‘Anne Hathaway’ Spent Money from $245 Million Haul on 30+ Exotic Cars: Feds

If you were a young man in your 20s and suddenly found yourself with $245 million dollars at your disposal, building an outrageous car collection might be one of the first things you do. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches ... why pick just one when you can have them all? Well, that’s apparently just what one man named Malone Lam decided to do. The only problem was, according to the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), Lam got his millions by running a cryptocurrency theft ring.

Lam, now 22 years old, is a Singaporean citizen who was living in Miami when he allegedly began to run his scheme in October 2023. According to the DOJ, Lam, who went by the wonderfully ridiculous online aliases “Anne Hathaway,” “$$$,” and “King Greavy,” organized and ran an operation that stole and laundered more than $245 million in cryptocurrency. Prosecutors say members of the theft ring used social engineering and, in some cases, home break-ins to obtain information that allowed them to drain victims' cryptocurrency wallets.

Lam didn’t exactly try to hide his newfound wealth. More than 30 exotic cars were reportedly associated with the extravagant lifestyle surrounding the operation. While a complete list of cars was not provided, the DOJ claims that each car ranged in value from $100,000 to $3.8 million. Photos released by the DOJ taken outside the Miami mansion that Lam was renting show multiple Lamborghinis (including a very Miami-spec white Aventador SVJ), a Ferrari Purosangue, a Rolls-Royce Ghost, a Mercedes-Benz G-wagen, and many others.
