IonQ Makes First On-Premise Quantum Deployment At NVIDIA Research Center

IonQ, Inc. (NYSE:IONQ) shares are trading higher on Wednesday. The company said its Superion 256 quantum computer will be the first quantum processing unit installed at NVIDIA’s Accelerated Quantum Research Center (NVAQC).

NVAQC is a facility focused on integrating quantum processors with accelerated computing.

Install Superion 256 At NVIDIA Quantum Research Center

The deployment will connect IonQ’s full-stack quantum systems with NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure to advance large-scale quantum computing.

Under the partnership, IonQ will install a Superion 256 system at NVAQC and connect it directly to an NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 system through NVIDIA NVQLink, with workloads managed by the open NVIDIA CUDA-Q platform.

The joint research will focus on hybrid software development, large-scale system prototyping and quantum-GPU co-design, with applications including portfolio optimization and risk modeling, materials science and computational chemistry for drug discovery.

Notably, IonQ launched its sixth-generation Superion platform on September 8, 2026. The Superion 256 is available to order, with first customer deliveries expected in 2027, while its NVAQC installation is also scheduled for next year.
