The man in charge of national intelligence for the United States is now the point person on a new task force for artificial intelligence.

Big picture view:

Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton was selected to lead the new government initiative that will work with consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers, and AI companies, President Donald Trump explained when announcing the appointment.

What they're saying:

The task force is designed to coordinate the federal government’s effort "to ensure that America continues to lead the World in Super Intelligence, which many say is bigger than the Industrial Revolution, and the Internet, and will protect the interests, and improve the lives, of all Americans," Trump wrote in a post on social media Sunday, using his preferred term for artificial intelligence.
