Qtonic Quantum has launched QShield, a software-only product that applies post-quantum encryption to traffic between compatible Linux endpoints. It is available through scoped engagements for enterprise and government organizations.

The launch comes before a Jan. 1, 2027, CNSA 2.0 milestone for new national security system acquisitions. Executive Order 14412 separately sets a Dec. 31, 2030, post-quantum migration deadline for key establishment in covered federal systems.

Qtonic tested QShield between two Linux hosts in separate Amazon Web Services availability zones in Oregon from Sept. 13-16. The company reported no restarts and published the run log, checksums and verification materials.

QShield uses ML-KEM-1024 for key establishment, ML-DSA-87 for endpoint authentication and AES-256-GCM for packet encryption. If the necessary security safeguards cannot be sustained, QShield's fail-closed design is meant to halt traffic moving through the protected connection, the company said. Qtonic makes no claim that the product has received FIPS 140-3 validation or government authorization.
