PRESS RELEASE — Alyn Smith, Minister for Innovation, Technology and Tertiary Education, recently visited Quantcore to explore how the Scottish Government can support the growth of Scotland’s quantum manufacturing sector.
Hosted by CEO Dr Jack Brennan, the visit included a tour of Quantcore’s labs, showcasing the company’s work in superconducting quantum hardware and introducing the team behind the technology, including co-founder and Head of Engineering Wridhdhisom Karar, Measurement Engineer Daniel Kuznesof, and Design Engineer Dr Shilpi Pandey.
Mr Smith then joined Quantcore and representatives from the University of Glasgow’s Economic Development and Innovation team for a roundtable discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing Scotland’s deep tech sector. The conversation focused on the infrastructure needed to support university spin-outs beyond their initial launch and opportunities for the next generation of talent.
Next year will see the launch of Quantcore’s quantum apprenticeships, the first of its kind, in partnership with the Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GRID). The programme will provide a practical route into quantum manufacturing and supporting operations, bypassing the traditional route through advanced education, and giving apprentices hands-on workplace experience and the opportunity to develop industry relevant skills.
