Quantinuum and Aramco signed a non-binding MOU to explore quantum computing applications, industrial challenges, and future fault-tolerant technologies.

Quantinuum, a leading quantum computing company, has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Aramco, one of the world’s largest integrated energy and chemicals companies, to investigate opportunities for applying quantum computing to industrial challenges.

The agreement is intended to establish a framework for technical engagement, knowledge exchange, and the identification of complex problems that could potentially benefit from advanced quantum technologies. The companies will initially focus on preliminary technical onboarding and sharing expertise as they assess how quantum computing could support applications across the energy sector and digital transformation initiatives.

Under the MOU, Quantinuum and Aramco plan to identify scientific and industrial challenges that may be suitable for quantum computing research. Particular attention will be given to problems that are difficult to solve using conventional computing approaches.
