Scam involving Bitcoin reported in McCracken County

Yet another scam is making the rounds in McCracken County, this time involving Bitcoin.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, numerous reports of phone calls claiming to be a deputy have been received.

The caller goes on to explain that the person has either missed a court date or jury duty, and in order to not be arrested, the person needs to convert a sum of money to Bitcoin by putting cash into a Bitcoin machine. They sometimes also order the person to purchase gift cards.

The Sheriff's Office cautions everyone to be on the lookout for these scams, and not to fall for them. They remind the public that they will never call and ask for money, and they say that there is virtually no way to get money back once it is converted to Bitcoin.
